The mission of the Northern Cancer Research Foundation is to raise funds throughout the northeastern Ontario region to support cancer research and cancer care programs of the Regional Cancer Program (RCP). This will be accomplished by developing relationships and partnerships at the community level with individuals, organizations, corporations and service clubs which will encourage and promote the community ownership of the research and cancer care programs at the Cancer Centre. The fundamental principles guiding the activities and operations of the Foundation will be based upon: -
Honesty: in communicating the need, in responding to our donor’s wishes, in everything we do. -
Integrity: in monitoring the disbursement of funds to ensure the donor’s wishes are honoured and that the grants will be used effectively and efficiently; in ensuring that the grant approval process for proposals conforms with accepted national granting organization’s standards; in maintaining cost/per dollar raised ratios that are well within the accepted standards of the industry; in developing relationships and partnerships that will promote and enhance our image and our revenue generating capabilities and declining those that in any way compromise any part of the organization. -
Fairness and Equality: in posting staff vacancies; in tendering jobs where possible and appropriate and deciding upon the most appropriate bid; in recognizing our donors appropriately and consistently; in identifying and responding to the needs and wishes of our partners, donors and other constituents. -
Sensitivity and Confidentiality: in dealing with grieving families, patients, prospects and all other relationships and partnerships. |

June 1st and 2nd 2008, Golf Sudbury, encompassing 4 courses; Timberwolf, Cedar Green, Pine Grove and Stonehill, will donate 50% of all green fees to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation. In addition, for every $10 donation, golfers will be given a ballot on a draw to win one of four 2008 Golf Club memberships and a $2000 Callaway Golf outfit. “The purpose of this promotion is to help raise funds for local cancer research and patient care, as well as to get the golfers out early on our courses”, says Sam Yawney, committee member. “It’s going to be a fun, non-competitive weekend, so get your clubs out of the garage and book your tee time early” adds Yawney. Terry Ames, long time employee of Golf Sudbury and well known golf manager, has been battling cancer since May 2007. He is an inspiration to the owners and managers of Golf Sudbury. “It is a privilege for me to be part of such an excellent group of co-workers. They are dedicated to making a difference in their community” says Ames. “It is vital to ensure leading edge cancer research and progressive patient care continue at the Regional Cancer Program. Through research and education, cancer can be beaten.” Ames adds. Golf Sudbury invites you to participate in the inaugural “Spring Tee Off for Cancer” the weekend of May 3rd and 4th. Call one of the four Golf Sudbury proshops (Timberwolf, Cedar Green, Pine Grove or Stonehill) or book online at www.golfsudbury.com |

The “2008 Hope Bracelet” theme is "Circle of Hope". The centre ring engraved with "Hope" represents the circle of family and friends that help the patient through their journey with cancer. With a diagnosis of cancer, it never affects just the patient, but the familhy unit as a whole. The family and friends form a circle of faith and hope around the patient - supporting and nurturing through teh journey. The "2008 Hope Bracelet" is dedicated to family and friends who share the journey. Created by Sudbury Artist Leilani Devries, the bracelet is the 4th in the series which is exclusive to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation. 100 % of the Proceeds From the Sale of the Bracelet Helps Support Research and Patient Care in the Northeast |
